چکیده
BaNi$_2$As$_2$ is a nonmagnetic analogue of the iron pnictide superconductors, and in its tetragonal state exhibits an incommensurate charge-density-wave (IC-CDW) sizable elastoresistance. In this work, phonons associated with IC-CDW uniform in-plane lattice distortions are investigated using high-resolution inelastic X-ray scattering. The transverse acoustic reveal no softening at temperatures where elastoresistance increases strongly, indicating latter to be electronically driven. Systematic phonon measurements occurs two stages upon cooling: underdamped first soften zero energy well above ordering temperature, then resulting quasielastic fluctuations gradually slow down coalesce into static order. A possible origin for our observations being uniaxial, which provides additional Ising degree freedom favorable disordered modulations, accounts through weak coupling lattice.

Charge Density Wave and Quantum Fluctuations in a Molecular Crystal
We consider an electron-phonon system in two and three dimensions on square, hexagonal and cubic lattices. The model is a modification of the standard Holstein model where the optical branch is appropriately curved in order to have a reflection positive Hamiltonian. Using infrared bounds together with a recent result on the coexistence of long-range order for electron and phonon fields, we prov...

متن کاملAC–Conductivity of Pinned Charge Density Wave Fluctuations in Quasi One–Dimensional Conductors
Quasi one–dimensional conductors which undergo a Peierls transition to a charge density wave state at a temperature TP show a region of one–dimensional fluctuations above TP . The Ginzburg–Landau–Langevin theory for the frequency dependent collective conductivity from conductive fluctuations into the charge density wave state is developed. By inclusion of a phase breaking term the effect of loc...
